New Idea

In our Geography and Environmental Science classes we have been learning about overpopulation. It seems that the popular trend is that more and more people are moving to cities and surrounding areas and are having less children, which is great for slowing overpopulation but the move brings up another problem. People who live in cities and surrounding areas consume much more than those who live in rural areas.

Addressing this issue in my senior project is a huge possibility. My senior project could even become a proposal for what cities and suburbs should strive to become in order to lessen it's impact on the environment.

I WANT TO DESIGN A CITY!
For my senior project I want to plan, design, and visually render a metropolitan city, preferably based on the Houston area, that adheres to the new parameters of building and that is more perceptive to the modern world. I’d like to research the planning process, gather the related data, and do everything there is that would allow me to effectively design a sustainable city. There are a number of fields involved in designing a city: Architecture, Engineering, Sociology, Geography, and city planning.
